Developing Leadership Skills in Obstetrics and Gynaecology

9-10 December 2025

In-person | RCOG, London

Overview

Join us for this comprehensive two-day course designed to prepare you to become an effective leader within obstetrics and gynaecology and your wider healthcare organisation.

Through interactive sessions and practical exercises, you will develop core leadership skills essential for today’s NHS environment, including leading safe teams, managing conflict, building resilience, and negotiating effectively. The course also includes a focus on self-awareness and emotional intelligence, with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator used as a foundation to explore how personality influences leadership style. The programme promotes effective, strong, compassionate leadership tailored to the realities of clinical practice.

Developed by experienced faculty with insight from across the O&G profession, the course supports participants in building the skills, behaviours, and confidence required to take on leadership roles, whether within a clinical team, a wider service, or at Trust level.

Previous participants have praised the course for its engaging content, inspiring speakers, and practical relevance to real-world leadership challenges.

Pre-course work

Attendees are required to complete the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), which will be sent approximately two weeks before the course begins. The insights from this assessment will form the basis of several small group discussions across both days. To support this, the RCOG will share your title, first name, surname, and email address with an external provider to facilitate delivery of the questionnaire and your personalised report. For any enquiries, please contact events@rcog.org.uk

In addition, a comprehensive selection of recommended pre-course reading will be shared in advance for those who wish to explore the topics further.
