Fetal Medicine and High Risk Pregnancy

16-18 May 2022

Joint RCOG/BMFMS virtual event

Course overview

Develop and refine your knowledge on the clinical challenges and dilemmas commonly faced in late pregnancy and diagnosis of fetal anomalies and disorders at this virtual course. This highly interactive event saw a record number of attendees in 2021. The programme will cover both specialties in depth:

High risk pregnancy

Innovative sessions will include topics covering late pregnancy and the many aspects which make managing high-risk pregnancy challenging. Internationally recognised speakers will cover topics with a problem-based approach in both fetal and maternal conditions including:

  • Growth restriction
  • Red cell alloimmunisation
  • Obesity
  • Psychiatric illness
  • Substance misuse
The high risk pregnancy part of the course is designed to cover the curriculum for the High Risk Pregnancy ATSM, but is also ideal for obstetricians wishing to increase their understanding and confidence in managing pregnancies with pre-existing and newly recognised risk factors.

Fetal medicine

Learn about the latest developments in fetal anomalies and disorders and hear world-class presentations on how to manage diagnosis and counselling. Delegates will experience a dynamic mixture of lectures and interactive case-based discussions which will be used to review advanced ultrasound techniques and common clinical dilemmas, as well as rare conditions.

The fetal medicine part of the course will cover the curriculum for the ATSM on Fetal Medicine, but will also be of benefit to all healthcare professionals involved with antenatal fetal ultrasound. The course is valid for three years, and must be completed prior to completion of the practical component of the ATSM. It also supports the obstetric RCOG intermediate ultrasound modules.
