RCOG Fetal Heart Monitoring Study Day

27 September 2024 (NEW DATE)

In-person | RCOG, London

Overview

This face-to-face course provides a holistic, evidence-based approach to fetal monitoring in labour

Sub-optimal detection and response to suspected intrapartum fetal deterioration remains a major contributor to avoidable brain injury during childbirth and the resulting emotional and financial impact on families and healthcare providers. The ABC (Avoiding Brain Injury in Childbirth) programme has developed a nationally standardised approach for detection and response to suspected intrapartum fetal deterioration

The programme has been co-designed with maternity care staff and maternity service users and supports fetal wellbeing assessment, decision-making and response while communicating and making decisions with women and their birth partners throughout.

Suitable for all career stages, the course content includes up-to-date NICE guidelines and evidence on clinical risk factors in the context of fetal wellbeing in labour and introduces an integrated approach to fetal wellbeing where clinical risks are embedded in the fetal assessment in labour.
