Overview

This in-person event is an excellent opportunity for all consultants and senior trainees to develop their knowledge, skills and attitudes to enhance teaching sessions, give effective feedback, improve assessment techniques and deliver difficult appraisals.

Through an interactive programme of lectures, small group work and collaborative breakout sessions, expert speakers will cover topics including how to build an effective learning environment, knowing how and when to use different teaching methods and training in different clinical settings.

Taking place over two days, this course will provide attendees with the knowledge and skills to become a better trainer, with the chance to network with peers and share ideas on improving adult learning.

As part of the interactive programme, attendees will be tasked with producing a five-minute video of themselves demonstrating a non-medical practical skill prior to the event. All videos will be reviewed in peer groups and receive structured feedback on the first day of the course.

Further instructions will be sent to you upon completion of registration.

Key reasons to attend

This course is essential for doctors currently registered for the ‘Medical Education’ Advanced Training Skills Module (ATSM) as it addresses the theoretical component of the module. It is also relevant to the educational practice and CPD of clinical trainers and educators.

It is suitable for all consultants and senior trainees, and is normally recognised by the PGMDEs of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales as fulfilling the requirements to be an educational and clinical supervisor.
