Women's global health in film

30 November 2023, 5.00-9.00pm

RCOG, London

Overview

Led by the RCOG Senior and Global Health Vice President, Professor Hassan Shehata, in collaboration with Dr Khalid Ali and MedFest Egypt, this unique event will showcase a series of critically acclaimed and thought-provoking short films that shed light on important women's health issues

The event aims to foster awareness, understanding and dialogue surrounding topics including female genital mutilation (FGM), domestic violence, and postnatal depression. By bringing together an audience of healthcare professionals, advocates, scholars and the wider community, we hope to spark meaningful conversations around women’s health and wellbeing.

The evening will start with refreshments and canapés, giving attendees the opportunity to connect with others who share a passion for women’s health. In addition to the film screenings, a panel of experts, healthcare professionals, charity organisations, advocates and filmmakers will facilitate open discussions. These interactive sessions will provide a platform for exchanging ideas, sharing personal experiences and exploring potential solutions to key women’s health issues.

Tickets cost £20, with special discounted rate of £5 for students, and all proceeds from this evening will support the RCOG’s Global Health activities. Capacity is limited – if you would like to contribute to a collective effort in addressing women's health challenges and promoting meaningful change, please register now to secure your place.

NB: The films that we plan to show at this event contain scenes and cover topics that some viewers may find upsetting.
