The workshop is suitable for:

  • Locally Employed Doctors and SAS doctors seeking a structured introduction to robotic surgery
  • Consultant surgeons with limited experience of robotic-assisted surgery
Learning outcomes

By the end of the workshop, you will have an understanding of:

  • Explain the principles, advantages, limitations and safe application of robotic-assisted surgery
  • Identify the principal components of the Hugo™ RAS system and describe their functions
  • Demonstrate appropriate console ergonomics and basic use of camera, clutch and wristed instruments
  • Describe the principles of patient positioning, port placement, docking, instrument exchange and bedside assistance
  • Recognise the roles and responsibilities of members of the robotic theatre team
  • Apply closed-loop communication and basic human-factors principles during robotic procedures
