Learning objectives

Trainees will
  • Achieve relevant competencies of the RCOG training matrix
  • Develop their skills in performing assisted vaginal birth, through tuition and hands-on practice
  • Learn the technical and non-technical skills necessary to manage delays in the second stage of labour and perform safe assisted births
Trainers will
  • Enhance their abilities and learn the necessary techniques to teach the course both at the RCOG and locally
  • Learn how to deliver ROBuST training in their hospital or unit
  • Receive information on how to set up the course and the required paperwork 

Who should attend

Trainees
  • ST1 - ST3 obstetrics and gynaecology trainees
  • Clinical fellows and doctors working under supervision, whether direct or indirect, in the labour ward
  • Staff and associate specialty grade doctors

Trainers
  • Consultants (or equivalent) whose institutions have applied, are considering, or have already run an RCOG Assisted Birth Simulation Training Course and are involved in this process
  • ST6 and ST7 trainees who wish to teach on RCOG or franchise ROBuST courses (please note that you will not be eligible to act as a local course lead until you have obtained your Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and are working at Consultant level or equivalent)
  • Doctors who are not in training who wish to teach on RCOG or franchise ROBuST courses are eligible to attend if competencies meet ST6 matrix requirements
